Eglon House, Primrose Hill, London NW1
Inspired by Pierre Chareau’s iconic Maison de Verre in Paris, Eglon House is one of the most extraordinary houses to be built in London in living memory, with an unforgettable event space. The house is composed of two distinct buildings. The western side has intimate Art-Deco-style domestic spaces, whilst the eastern building is designed for entertaining and has a magnificent double-height grand salon at its centre.
The Lubetkin Penthouse, Highpoint II, London N6
This remarkable penthouse, completed in 1938, was designed by the esteemed Modernist architect Berthold Lubetkin for his own use. The main living space is almost 40 feet in length with spectacular views from both sides through long stretches of glazing. Some original pieces of furniture that were created by Lubetkin and his wife specifically for the apartment have been preserved, lending the space a unique drama.
The Sandcastle, Pevensey Bay, East Sussex
This Great-Gatsby-esque Modern house, built in the 1930s, sits on the East Sussex coast and has direct, private access to the beach. The main reception room has a wonderful Art Deco curved window which overlooks the swimming pool and gardens.
Gibraltar Walk, London E2
This central London house, on a quiet street between Shoreditch and Bethnal Green, has a dramatic open-plan living and entertaining space on the ground floor. Converted from a former furniture restoration workshop, the house retains many materials from its industrial origins, from exposed brick walls and stripped-wood flooring to metal columns and raw-timber beams.
Faversham, Kent
This Grade II-listed Georgian house has a vast 20th-century gymnasium attached to it, in largely original condition, with exposed structural beams and industrial lighting. The gymnasium is an impressive and voluminous building, which is currently used as both an art studio and a unique space for entertaining.
St John Street, London EC1
Positioned on the second floor of one of Clerkenwell’s finest warehouse buildings, this apartment measures around 2,000sqft across a single open-plan space. The apartment celebrates the original fabric of the building, with a succession of concrete pillars running along the centre of the room which naturally break up the space.
