Hackney is well known for its abundance of warehouse conversions and this beautifully designed live/work apartment is an elegant example of the original fabric of a building meeting sensitive modern interventions.

Another example of a former warehouse converted for modern living, this two-bedroom apartment occupies the old administrative house for the Regent’s Canal on Kingsland Road. Taking up the upper floors, high ceilings and exposed spruce pine beams add drama and establish a connection to the building’s past in the large living, kitchen and dining room.
Shoreditch High Street, London E1
This expansive live/work apartment occupies the entire third floor of a one-time shoe factory on Shoreditch High Street. Architect duo Chan & Eayrs based their green-hued design on the verdant scenes from the windows, which look onto a local park.
Hackney Road II, London E2
This Grade II-listed townhouse on Hackney Road is located at the exciting epicentre of east London. Shoreditch is within easy reach, as is London Fields and Victoria Park, while Broadway Market and Columbia Road are local favourites come the weekend.
Chatsworth Road, London E5
This two-bedroom, split-level apartment is on sought-after Chatsworth Road, a lively high street with independent shops, cafes and restaurants. The living space is light and airy thanks to a volume-enhancing design by architect Mark Zundi, who used a large amount of glazing and a soaring void with skylights in the refurbishment of this former pub.
