We’re excited to announce the launch of our new moving-in gifts: a bespoke wool blanket, made in Bristol, and a wooden platter made in Cumbria. Both items were exclusively commissioned for The Modern House, and form our new moving-in presents, which we send to buyers to welcome them into their new homes. In response to the reaction we received when we announced our first set of moving-in gifts, this time we’re making the items available for anyone to purchase on our online shop – check them out here.
We’re proud to be supporting British makers through the two items, and have used timber from fallen trees to make the platter – making for a gift not only appropriately well-designed and made, but also of sound material credentials too.
London Plane Platter
An elegant serving platter hand-carved in Britain using native timber. Each platter is entirely individual, bearing the making process a small workshop in the Cumbria countryside. The timber used was ethically sourced from arborists in London who specialise in clearing fallen trees in the city.
Wool Blanket
Our limited-edition merino wool blanket, woven with a custom check print, is a modern take on a sofa-side staple. The reversible pattern was inspired by the use of hand-drawn lines to create shade, tone and texture in architectural diagrams.
