After showing us around her restful flat in a Georgian townhouse in Bath, Cereal magazine founder and editor Rosa Park shares her personal house style.
How would you describe the interiors of your house?
Variations on a (beige) theme, in response to the golden biscuit tones of the Bath stone outside.
If there was a fire and you could only save one thing, what would it be?
My bookshelf and the contents within it. Does that count as one thing? I hope so!
What was the last thing you bought for the house?
Braided sweetgrass, to attract positive energy.
Where do you shop for your home?
Most of our new furniture is Scandinavian or Italian, and our antique pieces are English or Korean. The art and design objects are from all over the world — collected on our travels.
Top three coffee table books?
The top three is always evolving, as it depends on what I’m currently obsessing over. Right now, they are: Elective Affinities: Edmund de Waal at The Frick Collection,The I Ching, translated by Richard Wilhelm and Vija Celmins: To Fix the Image in Memory.
If money was no object, what changes would you make?
I’d change all of the architectural hardware in our flat to bespoke ones by van Cronenburg.
Less is more or more is more?
Less is less and more is more, more or less.
Design classics or contemporary pieces?
Design classics.
If you’re having people over for dinner, what do you cook?
I can’t cook, so I only invite people over for drinks.
What are the best things about the neighbourhood?
Proximity to our favourite park in town, Henrietta Park.
